Visual Content Tools

There are a never ending amount of visual content tools. Many focus on creating, editing, designing one or two types of visual content. My list of ten visual content tools consists of tools that are great for creating and designing images and graphics, animations and videos. I love to take photos and create videos that add movement for added engagement and to capture attention.

  • Canva
  • Over
  • Tailwind
  • Adobe Spark
  • PicMonkey
  • Relaythat
  • Mojo
  • Quik
  • Smartmockups
  • Loom

Canva

Canva is one of my favorite design tools for doing everything, from simple image enhancements to creating short animations and videos. Canva is a popular design tool for many content marketers. This amazing design tool does almost anything and everything you could want for designing and creating, you could call it, an all-in-one tool. Remove backgrounds, create animated text, integrate and edit video, resize for media, and the list goes on. Canva is also great for design collaborations, saving, and sharing of designs and templates. Canva’s layers can be changed by using the position tool and moving selected layers front and back. Certainly a top contender when it comes to design tools. If you would like a basic ‘how to use Canva’ tutorial, click here.

Over

Over has been an app that I have used for many years. I love the app because it works so well on my iphone as well as my ipad. Over has also just released a desktop version, however, at the moment, I still love the app. Over is similar to Canva in many ways with the ability to create folders and save and edit designs. Likewise to Canva, the design Tool can resize visual content for social media platforms, edit backgrounds, create amazing typography, and incorporate premade templates for easy design assistance. When editing layers in Over, there is a layer tool that you can click and drag to manipulate the layer you?d like to edit. Over also has the ability to coordinate and collaborate with other team members in your businesses.

Tailwind

Tailwind is well known for its Pinterest scheduling tools as well as SmartLoop, and Tailwind Tribes. It is an amazing Pinterest and Instagram scheduling tool that can schedule out posts into the near future, keeping you on track, consistent, and organized. Tailwind also has a feature called Tailwind Tribes that encourages you to share your pins among like minded individuals to gain more traffic and familiarity. Tailwind has recently released a beta version of their Create tool. From what I have used I think that it is a great tool that has a lot of future potential. Due to the fact that Pinterest is now favoring new, fresh content, a Creator tool is an amazing idea for Tailwind. Tailwind’s Instagram scheduling feature allows you to add content and will give you suggested hashtags based on the information you provide.

Adobe Spark

Adobe Spark is a great design tool for creating visual content and adding in animation to text and images. Adobe wanted to make a visual content tool that everybody (not just graphic designers) could use to create and design amazing social media graphics. Adobe Spark provides templates that can be modified with new images, text, and videos. Stock photos (or your own) can be uploaded and manipulated to create branded content.

PicMonkey

PicMonkey is another excellent design tool that competes up there with Canva and Over. PicMonkey also provides templates, stock photos, videos and other excellent design features to make thumb stopping social media content. They also have a background eraser, the ability to perform touchups (remove unwanted spots), add effects and a layer tool for quick editing. The layers feature is similar to that in Photoshop, seeing one layer on top of the other. Likewise to the other design tools, PicMonkey can also save and edit designs, as well as collaborate and share with team members.

Relaythat

Relaythat is a wonderful tool for batch creating pins for Pinterest. Relaythat is and of itself its own type of visual content tools. You are prompted to add your brand colors or desired colors, images that you would like in your pin, logo / website, tag line, and title, and then Relaythat does the rest. It is perfect for the non designer who needs a lot of pins quickly. There isn’t a ton of image manipulation compared to Canva, Over, PicMonkey, and Adobe Spark. Relaythat creates new pins with the push of a button. With Pinterest favoring fresh, new content Relaythat can whip up several images with the click of a few buttons.

Loom

Loom is great for videos and screen recordings. If you need to create a course, do a tutorial, give a presentation, Loom will help you get your screen recordings quickly and easily. Therefore, you should be integrating as much video as possible into your digital marketing strategy now and avoid catching up later.
