Designing and scheduling content is time consuming.  Canva has made creating content and planning posts easier and more convenient.

Design Your Social Media Content

Canva is an amazing design tool that enables even the most uncreative person to design scroll stopping graphics.  

Easily drag and drop, edit and manipulate, graphics, text, and colors, to adhere to your brands specifications. 

Use Canva’s plethora of features to design and create content for your Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest posts. 

Besides using Canva as a social media design tool, Canva can also be used to design business cards, website graphics, blog post images, and much more. 

The potential is endless as Canva continues to develop new and unique features that compete with the likes of graphic design software such as Photoshop. 

Once you have created your content, you are ready to schedule to respective platforms.

Connect Social media platforms to canva

In order to schedule content to your social media platforms you will need to add and give permission to each. 

I find that when adding each platform it is best to be logged into that respective platform. For example, to add my Pinterest, I made sure that I was logged into my Pinterest business account on my desktop’s browser and not my client’s business account. 

The same protocol applies to Facebook and Instagram.

Again, be sure to be logged into your desired Facebook and Instagram account in order to connect the correct accounts to Canva. 

You will need to connect Facebook and Instagram separately in order to schedule to both. 


Disconnect Instagram / Facebook / Pinterest from Canva

In the case that you connect the wrong social media account to Canva, the video below shows how you can quickly and easily disconnect Canva from other platforms. 

Schedule Content using Canva's Content Planner

Scheduling from Canva is easy and simple. 

In the video below, I am scheduling a pin to Pinterest. You will still want to follow Pinterest design best practices as well as Pinterest best practices to schedule Pinterest content.

In this case I have my content designed and I would like to schedule. 

I can also schedule something that I had designed a day ago, a week ago, a month ago. 

You can schedule from within the design by going to the top right and clicking the three dots. Then scroll down until you find Schedule. You will then be prompted to schedule the month, day, and year. 

Click Next. You will then Click the Schedule To, to choose  the Destination (platform) for that post to be scheduled. 

Depending on the platform, fill out the other fields as you would normally to post.  

Once all the fields have been populated you can Schedule or Save Draft.

Content planner

Besides scheduling designs from within the design itself, you can also schedule from the Content Planner. 

You can access the Content Planner from the Canva Home Screen. Content Planner is located on the left side under Brand Kit. 

Click on Content Planner and you can see the current month and the content scheduled for that month. 

You will be able to see a thumbnail of the image, as well as the platform the content is scheduled. 

To schedule from within the Content Planner hover over the day you would like to schedule. Click the plus sign that displays in the top right of the date field. 

Once you have clicked on the plus, you can find a design you’ve already created or create a new design. 

If you have scheduled a draft it will appear on your Content Planner as a square thumbnail with a pencil in the left corner. It will also show the platform that the draft is currently scheduled in the bottom right corner.

If you are scheduling from within the Content Planner you will be prompted to select a previously created design, select a template, or create a new design.  

Choose the desired platform if you are creating a new design for that schedule date. 

Once the design is created, click Schedule in the upper right corner. Follow through with scheduling content as you would when you schedule from within a design.
